Destination Wedding in Mauritius

Mauritius is visa-friendly for most nationalities, English- and French-speaking, and reachable by direct flights from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa. The island offers private beaches, heritage estates, modern reception venues and intimate boutique hotels — all within a 90-minute drive from the airport.

For international couples, the appeal is practical as much as scenic: short transfer times, established hospitality infrastructure, and a stable legal framework for civil and religious ceremonies.

Foreign couples can legally marry in Mauritius after a short residency formality. Both partners must be on the island a minimum of three working days before the ceremony to publish the marriage notice at the Civil Status Office.

You will typically need: valid passports, full birth certificates, a certificate of no impediment (or equivalent affidavit) issued in your country of residence, and — where applicable — divorce decrees or death certificates of previous spouses. Documents not issued in English or French should be officially translated and apostilled.

Mauritius has two main wedding windows. The cool, dry season from May to early November is the most popular: mild temperatures (20–26°C), low humidity and reliable sunsets — ideal for outdoor ceremonies and long evening receptions.

The warm season from late November to April brings lush landscapes, vivid sunsets and warmer ocean temperatures. Short tropical showers are possible, so plans should always include a covered backup — something we build into every HConcept brief by default.

The right venue depends on your guest count, ceremony style and the rhythm you want for the day. North-coast estates and resorts suit lively, beach-led weddings. The west coast offers iconic sunsets over the lagoon. The centre and south combine cooler temperatures, mountain backdrops and modular indoor spaces — including our own L'Atrium venue for fully tailored receptions.
